  • Why Are Cats Afraid of Cucumbers? The Surprising Science Behind the Viral Trend

Cat with Fear of a Cucumber If you’ve spent any time on the internet, you’ve probably seen videos of cats leaping sky-high when confronted with an ordinary cucumber. It looks funny at first glance, but it also raises a curious question: why are cats afraid of cucumbers? The Startle Reflex at Work Cats are naturally cautious and hyper-aware of their surroundings. When something suddenly appears where it wasn’t before—like a cucumber sneakily placed behind them while they eat—it can trigger their startle reflex. This is the same instinct that makes them jump if you drop a pan in the kitchen or tap them unexpectedly. Green Snake on a Cucumber Mistaken Identity: Snake Mimicry One popular theory is that cats may confuse cucumbers with snakes. Long, green, and silent, cucumbers vaguely resemble a snake lying in wait. Cats are both predators and prey in the wild, so their brains are hardwired to avoid potential threats instantly rather than risk investigating too closely. Territorial Instincts Cats rely on consistency in their environment. They map out their “safe zones” with scent, memory, and habit. Introducing something new—especially silently behind them—can be interpreted as an invasion of their territory. The cucumber is less scary in itself and more unsettling as a foreign object that appeared without warning. Stress Isn’t a Laughing Matter While these videos can be entertaining, it’s worth noting that intentionally scaring cats can cause unnecessary stress. Sudden frights can lead to anxiety, mistrust, or even injury if a cat bolts into furniture or a wall. Our feline companions thrive best in environments that feel secure and predictable. Interactive Cat Toy Rolling Mouse Next to a Succulent Healthy Ways to Amuse Your Cat Instead of startling your cat with cucumbers, try offering stimulating toys or activities that satisfy their hunting instincts. Interactive toys, treat puzzles, and even safe outdoor “catio” time can provide fun without the stress. Final Thoughts Cats probably don’t have a vendetta against cucumbers themselves—it’s the surprise and possible snake-like resemblance that set off their instincts. What looks like a silly internet gag is actually a window into your cat’s complex survival wiring. The next time you want to entertain your feline friend, reach for a feather wand instead of a salad ingredient.

  • Working Cats: Honoring Our Feline Coworkers This Labor Day

A Tabby Cat Looking at a Customer in a Store A few months ago, I became obsessed with Bodega Cats, and immediately began following the working cats on Instagram and TikTok accounts that honored the cats and the daily work that they do. We often think about how we toil away our days working hard to support ourselves and our families, but our cat co-pilots work hard, too. It's only fitting that on Labor Day, a holiday dedicated to honoring the contributions of workers everywhere, that we take a moment to recognize a special group of “employees” who’ve worked alongside us for centuries: working cats. From guarding grain in ancient times to keeping bodegas and post offices pest-free, cats have proven themselves as loyal coworkers. They may not clock in at 9 a.m. sharp, but their roles in protecting food, boosting morale, and even serving as mascots for businesses have earned them a rightful place in the workforce. More than once my cat Lulu has been my alarm clock, my smile at the end of a difficult day and my therapist to listen to me moan and groan when no one else was around. Let's review the beauty and devotion of the cat co-worker. Cat in a Bookstore A Short History of Working Cats Ancient Grain Guardians: Cats first partnered with humans thousands of years ago by protecting harvests from rodents. In ancient Egypt, cats sparked a deep, reciprocal relationship with humans that transformed their perception into symbols of protection, prosperity and spirituality. Post Office Cats: In the 19th and early 20th centuries, mailrooms in Europe officially employed cats to safeguard documents and packages. In 1868 London, an Official Mouser Program was created for the formal employment of cats. The Money Order Office hired three cats on a trial basis to deal with a rodent infestation. They were paid a small weekly allowance for food. After the cats proved effective, the program, known as the "Cat System" was expanded to post offices across England. In 1952 there was public outrage when it was revealed that cats' wages had not increased since 1873, leading to a debate in the House of Commons. The most famous Post Office cat, Tibs, served for 14 years at the Post Office headquarters in London, and kept it mouse-free until his death in 1964. Bodega Cats: Today, cats in corner shops and delis still serve as pest control and bring joy to customers. Dating back to the 19th century in New York City, cats have become beloved icons of the urban landscape. The New York City Post Office was using approximately 100 cats by 1900 for rodent control. Most importantly, cats provide comfort for store owners, and a calming influence against a busy city landscape. They also attract customers which helps the bottom line. Office & Bookstore Cats: Modern workplaces find that feline coworkers reduce stress and create a welcoming environment. But their role in the bookstore has historic roots. In ancient Egypt, cats were used to protect valuable books from pests in stores and later in libraries. Their protection of papyrus was later formalized by Russian Empress Elizabeth who sent cats to the Hermitage Museum in 1745. Cat at an Outdoor Patio Labor Day for Humans… and Their Cat s Labor Day may mean barbecues, sales, and relaxing for us — but what about our working cats? After all, they’ve been “on the job” for centuries. Here are some fun ways to include them in the holiday: Celebrate Together Create a cozy “cat lounge” while you grill or entertain, so your feline has a front-row seat to the fun. Check out the new Comfort Diva Cat Bed so that your feline friend can lounge in style. Gift your cat a new toy or cat bandana as a “bonus” for their service as pest control and chief morale officer. Comfort Diva donates the revenue from our Cat Bandanas to animal rescue organizations. Cat-Friendly Labor Day Treats Make frozen tuna or chicken broth cubes to cool your cat off during summer festivities. For humans, sip a cocktail in a Cat-Themed Wine Tumbler  (Comfort Diva’s got you covered). Rest & Relaxation Labor Day is about taking a break. Snuggle with your cat under a plush blanket from Comfort Diva, or let them claim your new outdoor pillow — because what’s a holiday without a cat nap? By the way, our new outdoor pillows are perfect for a day of grilling and chilling. Woman Snuggling with a Cat Why Cats Deserve a Labor Day Shoutout Cats have always worked in their own way — silently protecting, entertaining, and comforting us. • The Best Flea Treatment for Cats: Natural and Effective Options

Gray and White Cat Scratching a Flea Fleas are more than just a nuisance—they can cause itching, discomfort, and even serious health problems for your cat. Whether you’re a first-time cat parent or an experienced cat lover, finding the best flea treatment for cats  is essential to keeping your feline friend healthy and happy. In this guide, we’ll cover different treatment options, from natural remedies to vet-approved solutions like Revolution flea treatment for cats , and answer common questions such as how does flea treatment for cats work  and how much is flea treatment for cats . Why Flea Treatment for Cats Is So Important Fleas reproduce quickly, and a small infestation can turn into a major problem before you know it. Not only do they cause itching and irritation, but they can also transmit tapeworms and lead to anemia in kittens or senior cats. The right flea treatment for cats  is more than convenience—it’s a safeguard for your cat’s health. What Is the Best Flea Treatment for Cats? The best treatment depends on your cat’s lifestyle, health, and your personal preferences. Some cat parents prefer vet-prescribed topical or oral medications, while others lean toward natural flea treatment for cats . Here are the top categories to consider: 1. Topical Treatments Spot-on treatments are applied to the skin, usually between the shoulder blades. Popular options include: Revolution flea treatment for cats  – A veterinarian-recommended product that protects against fleas, ticks, ear mites, and even heartworms. It’s widely considered one of the best flea and tick treatments for cats . Frontline Plus and Advantage II – Over-the-counter choices that target fleas in multiple life stages. 2. Oral Medications Pill-based preventatives work systemically, killing fleas when they bite. These are fast-acting and effective, though they typically require a vet prescription. 3. Natural Flea Treatment for Cats For cat parents who want chemical-free options, natural methods can be a good supplement to a prevention plan: Apple Cider Vinegar Sprays  – Diluted vinegar solutions may repel fleas, though they don’t kill eggs. Diatomaceous Earth  – A natural powder that dehydrates fleas when sprinkled on carpets or bedding. Essential Oil Blends  – Cat-safe formulas with oils like cedarwood or lemongrass (always ensure they’re made specifically for pets, since many essential oils are toxic to cats). Regular Grooming  – Daily brushing and the use of a flea comb can reduce flea populations naturally. How Does Flea Treatment for Cats Work? Flea treatments typically work in one of two ways: Contact Kill:  Topical solutions spread through your cat’s natural skin oils, killing fleas on contact. Systemic Action:  Oral medications enter the bloodstream, killing fleas when they bite. Many products also contain insect growth regulators (IGRs) that prevent larvae and eggs from developing, breaking the flea life cycle. How to Apply Flea Treatment for Cats Most spot-on treatments are easy to apply: Part the fur between your cat’s shoulder blades. Place the applicator tip directly on the skin. Squeeze the liquid onto the skin in one spot, avoiding the fur. Don’t pet or bathe your cat until the treatment has dried. Tip: Always follow dosage instructions based on your cat’s weight. How Much Is Flea Treatment for Cats? The cost varies depending on the type: Vet-prescribed products (like Revolution):  $20–$30 per dose. Over-the-counter spot-ons:  $10–$15 per dose. Natural remedies:  $5–$20, depending on ingredients and frequency of use. While natural options can be less expensive, prescription treatments often provide the broadest protection, making them cost-effective in the long run. Do Indoor Cats and Multi-Cat Homes Need Flea Treatment? It’s a common misconception that indoor cats don’t need flea prevention. While they may be less exposed than outdoor cats, fleas can still hitch a ride indoors on shoes, clothing, or other pets. Once inside, a single flea can quickly turn into an infestation. For that reason, indoor cats should also be on a regular flea treatment plan . If you live in a multi-cat household , it’s essential to treat all  of your cats at the same time. Treating only one cat leaves the others vulnerable and can allow fleas to survive and spread throughout the home. Consistent, household-wide prevention ensures that fleas don’t have a safe haven, protecting all your feline family members equally. Final Thoughts: Choosing the Right Flea Treatment So, what is the best flea treatment for cats ? If you’re looking for all-around protection—including ticks, ear mites, and heartworm— Revolution flea treatment for cats  is hard to beat. For a more natural route, daily grooming combined with cat-safe sprays and diatomaceous earth can help keep infestations at bay. Ultimately, the best choice balances effectiveness, safety, and your cat’s specific needs. Regular prevention is key, because once fleas invade, they’re much harder to get rid of. Whether you go natural or prescription, staying consistent with flea control will keep your cat happy, comfortable, and flea-free.

  • Celebrating National Black Cat Day 2025: Why These Felines Deserve the Spotlight

Black Cat Perched on a Cat Tree Every year, cat lovers come together to celebrate the mysterious, elegant, and often misunderstood black cat. National Black Cat Day 2025  is the perfect chance to dispel myths, show appreciation, and share why these beautiful cats make such wonderful companions. Side note, I have a friend who still mourns the loss of her beloved black cat. I don’t think that she will ever own a cat that will capture her heart in the same way and to the same degree. Black Cat Lying on a White Blanket When Is National Black Cat Day? If you’ve ever asked, “when is National Black Cat Day?”  the answer is October 27 . Mark your calendar— National Black Cat Day October 27  is a dedicated time to honor these sleek felines, challenge the superstitions that surround them, and encourage adoption. Interestingly, in the U.S., there are actually two separate observances. National Black Cat Appreciation Day  falls earlier in the year on August 17 , while National Black Cat Day  is observed in late October. That means cat lovers get two opportunities  to celebrate and advocate for these often-overlooked pets. Black Cat in a Yard by a Tree Why Do We Need National Black Cat Appreciation Day? Despite their charm, black cats have long been linked to superstition. Some cultures associate them with bad luck, while others believe they bring prosperity and protection. Sadly, this stigma often impacts adoption rates—black cats are more likely to be overlooked in shelters. For centuries, black cats have been linked with witches and the occult, particularly in European folklore. During the Middle Ages, black cats were believed to be the familiars of witches, aiding them in casting spells or even acting as witches in disguise. This association fueled fear and superstition, especially around Halloween, when tales of black cats crossing one’s path as a sign of bad luck grew in popularity. While these myths unfairly tarnished their reputation, today National Black Cat Day, October 27, 2025,  and National Black Cat Appreciation Day August 17, 2025,  encourage us to see black cats not as symbols of the supernatural, but as loving companions who deserve to be cherished. These observances shine a spotlight on black cats, helping potential pet parents see them for who they really are: affectionate, playful, and loyal companions. Black Cat Staring Into Camera Myth-Busting: The Truth About Black Cats Myth: Black cats are unlucky.   Truth: In many cultures, black cats are symbols of prosperity, love, and protection. Myth: Black cats are harder to adopt.   Truth: While they are sometimes overlooked due to superstition, growing awareness through National Black Cat Day 2025  and National Black Cat Appreciation Day 2025  is changing this trend. Myth: Black cats are harder to photograph.   Truth: With the right lighting, their glossy coats and striking eyes make for some of the most beautiful cat photos. Myth: Black cats are connected to witchcraft and bad omens.   Truth: These superstitions are outdated. Today, black cats are celebrated as loyal, affectionate companions. Myth: Black cats require special care.   Truth: Black cats don’t have unique health problems—regular vet visits, good nutrition, and love are all they need. Now that we've debunked myths, let's talk about how to care for your mystical feline. Black Cat Care Guide - The Simple Truth Many people wonder if black cats require special care or if they are prone to unique health issues. The truth is, black cats do not belong to a single breed but can be found across many cat breeds, which means their health needs vary just like any other feline. Their sleek black coats don’t require more maintenance than other short-haired or long-haired cats—regular grooming, vet check-ups, and a healthy diet are usually all that’s needed. Some studies even suggest that the genetic makeup behind their black fur may provide extra resilience against certain diseases. In short, there are no ailments specifically tied to black cats, making them just as healthy and easy to care for as any other cat—a fact worth celebrating on National Black Cat Day 2025 . Black Cat Dressed for Halloween Fun Ways to Celebrate National Black Cat Day 2025 Whether you’re a lifelong cat lover or new to the feline world, there are many ways to join in the celebration: Adopt a black cat  – Shelters often have a harder time finding homes for them. Share their beauty online  – Post photos of your black cat on social media with hashtags like #NationalBlackCatDay and #BlackCatLove. Support animal rescues  – Donate to shelters that help find forever homes for overlooked cats. Spoil your kitty  – Treat your black cat to a new toy, a cozy blanket, or extra snuggles. Dress Up Like a Black Cat for Halloween  - Honor the royalty of the black cat by using imitation as the highest form of flattery. Buy a Black Cat T-Shirt  - show your affection with wardrobe flair Create a Shrine to the Black Cat with Home Decor  - decorate your sofa with Black Cat Pillows or wear a Black Cat Apron while cooking, like the ones from Comfort Diva. Comfort Diva Black Cat Pillow on a Pink Sofa The Magic of Black Cats Black cats are more than their sleek coats and golden eyes—they’re symbols of resilience, mystery, and love. By celebrating National Black Cat Day 2025  and National Black Cat Appreciation Day 2025 , we’re not just honoring them—we’re helping to create a world where no cat is judged by its color. So this October 27 , take a moment to show some extra love for black cats everywhere. And remember, the luckiest thing you can do is give one a forever home. Feel like expressing your spooky side? Shop all the black cat looks from Comfort Diva: Conclusion: Celebrate Black Cats Every Day As National Black Cat Day October 27, 2025  approaches—and with National Black Cat Appreciation Day 2025  earlier in the year—we have two wonderful chances to shine a spotlight on these often-misunderstood felines. From debunking superstitions about witches and bad luck to recognizing that black cats don’t require any special care beyond what every cat deserves, these observances remind us that black cats are just as loving, playful, and loyal as their colorful counterparts. By adopting, donating, or simply sharing their beauty online, you can help rewrite the narrative and ensure that black cats are appreciated not just on their special days, but every day of the year.

Known for its long, silky coat, strikingly expressive eyes, and lively nature, this ancient breed has fascinated cat enthusiasts across the globe. From its fascinating history and unique characteristics to detailed care requirements and insights into what people in the United States think about this breed, we will provide a complete understanding of why the Turkish Angora cat continues to be cherished by so many. History of the Turkish Angora Cat The Turkish Angora cat breed originates from Ankara, Turkey, which was once called Angora. The Turkish Angora cat is one of the oldest breeds, with a history dating back to the 15th century . The Turkish Angora cat is known for its long, silky coat, which came about organically through genetic mutation. It comes from the African wildcat . The earliest recorded mentions of this elegant breed can be found in 16th-century France. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Turkish Angoras gained popularity among European cat enthusiasts. Because these cats were regarded as a national treasure by Turkey, the Ankara Zoo launched a breeding program dedicated to preserving the pure white Turkish Angora cats, especially those with striking blue, gold, or odd-colored eyes. The efforts were strict, and exporting these prized cats was tightly controlled. The Turkish Angora first came to the attention of the United States in the 1950s , when American servicemen visiting the Ankara Zoo noticed them. In 1962, the zoo permitted Colonel and Mrs. Walter Grant to bring two prized cats—an odd-eyed white male named Yildiz and an amber-eyed white female named Yildizcek—to the U.S. These cats formed the basis of the Turkish Angora breeding programs in America. As per TICA and CFA, their defining traits make them a unique and delightful breed, characterized by: Appearance: These medium-sized cats boast a slender, graceful build with a muscular, fine-boned body. Their long, silky, single-layered coat resists matting and comes in iconic white or other colors like Turkish Angora black, blue, red, cream, tabby, tortoiseshell, and calico. Their large, almond-shaped eyes shine in blue, green, amber, or odd-eyed combinations, while their long, bushy tail resembles a feather duster. Slender legs, with slightly longer hind legs, and tufted paws complete their balletic look. Personality: Turkish Angora cat breeds are lively and engaging. They’re highly intelligent, often opening cabinets or faucets with their curious, problem-solving nature. Affectionate and social, they bond closely with their owners, often picking a favorite person to shadow. Playful well into adulthood, they love interactive toys and may even enjoy water, a trait shared with Turkish Van cats. Talkative with soft, melodious voices, deaf Angoras may be louder. Though affectionate, they prefer attention on their terms and dislike prolonged holding. Temperament: Known for their dog-like loyalty, Angoras get along with children, other cats, and dogs if socialized early. They often assert themselves as the “alpha” pet, thriving in homes where their energetic, independent spirit is embraced. Turkish Angora Cat Why Are Turkish Angoras Famous? As per TICA and CFA, Turkish Angora cat breeds are loved by people for these reasons: Historical Significance: They are one of the oldest longhaired breeds and are said to be the "mothers" of many modern longhaired cats, such as Persians. Their unique history grows because they are kept safe in the Ankara Zoo. Striking Appearance : Their sleek coat, graceful body, and beautiful eyes (especially the odd-eyed ones) make them very interesting to look at. The white Turkish Angora cat with blue eyes and pristine white fur is especially famous. Cultural Impact: They have been in art, literature, and maybe even pop culture. Some people think that Duchess from Disney's The Aristocats was based on a Turkish Angora because of how graceful and white her coat was. Rarity: Turkish Angora cat breeds are still rare, even if they are making a comeback. According to certain registries, they are the 34th most popular breed, which makes them even more appealing. Unique Traits: They are smart, lively, and sometimes like water, which is not something that most cats do. People are also interested in them since they can compete in feline agility because they are fast and smart. Average Price of Turkish Angora Cats As per TICA and CFA, the cost of Turkish Angora cat breeds varies by region and quality. Below is a concise table: Region Type Price Range USA Pet-Quality Kittens $500–$1,500 Show-Quality/Odd-Eyed $1,000–$2,500+ Retired Show/Breeder Cats $50–$400 Adoption/Rescue (Adults) $50–$200 Europe Pet/Show-Quality €400–€2,000 ($450–$2,250) Note: Prices depend on breeder reputation, pedigree, and coat/eye color. Multicolor Turkish Angora Cat How to Care for Turkish Angora Cats Caring for Turkish Angora Cats requires attention to their unique needs, ensuring their health and happiness. As per TICA and CFA, here’s how to keep these elegant felines thriving. Grooming Turkish Angoras have a silky, single-layered coat that’s easy to maintain. Brush weekly with a fine-toothed comb to prevent hairballs, increasing to twice weekly during spring and summer shedding. Bathe every two months, especially white cats, as many enjoy water. Brush teeth several times a week with cat-safe toothpaste to avoid dental issues. Clean ears weekly with a soft cloth and wipe eyes to prevent tear staining. Trim nails every few weeks to avoid snagging. Nutrition Feed high-quality cat food meeting AAFCO standards , suited to their life stage. Consult a vet for portion sizes to prevent obesity, which can strain their slender frame. Provide fresh water constantly, ideally with a fountain to encourage drinking. Exercise and Mental Stimulation These active cats need 30–60 minutes of daily play, like chasing toys or climbing cat trees. Their intelligence demands puzzle feeders or interactive toys to prevent mischief, such as opening cabinets. Provide perches for their love of heights. Health Care Turkish Angoras face specific health risks. White cats with blue or odd eyes may be deaf (up to 80% risk), detectable via BAER testing. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) requires regular vet screenings. Rare hereditary ataxia causes shaky movements in kittens, and some have MDR1 gene sensitivity to certain drugs. White Angoras need indoor living to avoid sunburn or skin cancer. Annual vet exams, core vaccines, and parasite control are essential, with kittens needing frequent checkups and seniors biannual visits. Pet insurance helps manage potential health costs. Cat Core  is the latest lifestyle trend blending whimsical design, cozy home décor, and playful fashion all centered around our favorite feline companions. From cat-inspired home décor  to stylish accessories and quirky gifts, Cat Core is taking over Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. In this guide, we’ll explore exactly what Cat Core is , where it came from, and how you can bring it into your own wardrobe, home, and lifestyle. Woman Wearing a Floral Cat Apron What is Cat Core? At its simplest, Cat Core is an aesthetic that celebrates everything cats represent: independence, comfort, playfulness, and style. It’s the feline spin on the “core” trends that dominate social media (like Cottagecore and Goblincore). Instead of mushroom mugs or floral dresses, Cat Core is all about whisker prints, cat-shaped lamps, cozy corners, and chic-yet-playful accessories. It’s more than just loving cats—it’s about curating a lifestyle that shows off that love through décor, fashion, and identity. The Origins of Cat Core Cat Core grew out of the internet’s long-standing obsession with cats. With over 400 million cat hashtags  across social media, it was only a matter of time before cats became more than just cute content—they became a full-blown lifestyle aesthetic. Millennials and Gen Z have embraced it in particular, using Cat Core as a way to merge pet parent pride  with fashion, home styling, and even gifting trends. Woman Wearing a Cat-Themed T-Shirt Cat Core in Fashion: Playful Cat-Inspired Style One of the easiest ways to embrace Cat Core is through fashion. Cat fashion trends  balance comfort with statement-making flair, allowing cat lovers to express their personality in subtle or bold ways. Key Cat Core fashion elements include: Everyday whimsy:  Cat-print socks, graphic tees, and scarves. Statement accessories:  Cat-eye sunglasses, cat-shaped handbags, and tech accessories with feline designs. Personalized pieces:   Personalized cat dad gifts  and custom jewelry featuring paw prints or whiskers. It’s cozy, fun, and perfect for showing off your personality. Cat-Themed Kitchen Towel Cat-Inspired Home Décor: The Heart of Cat Core If there’s one place Cat Core truly shines, it’s in cat-inspired home décor . The aesthetic combines cozy textures, playful details, and practical yet charming designs. Popular Cat Core décor includes: Cat pillows and blankets  for a cozy vibe. Kitchenware with a twist —like aprons, mugs, or towels featuring cat designs. Accent lighting —cat-shaped lamps and nightlights. Whimsical art —from minimal paw-print wall art to colorful feline illustrations. Cat Core turns your home into a sanctuary where you—and your cats—feel right at home. Cat-Themed Tote Bag Cat Lover Gifts: The Cat Core Marketplace The rise of Cat Core has fueled a huge market for cat lover gifts . From birthday presents for cat moms to personalized cat dad gifts , there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate feline love. Some favorites include: Cat-themed journals, totes, and tech accessories. Aprons, kitchen towels, and blankets from brands like Comfort Diva’s Exclusive Collection . Subscription boxes  that deliver Cat Core delights to your doorstep. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or another cat lover, Cat Core makes gifting endlessly fun. Cat Curled Up Next to Cat-Themed Tech Accessories Why Cat Core Matters Cat Core is more than just cute products—it’s about identity and lifestyle. Cats symbolize independence, comfort, and companionship, which resonates strongly in today’s culture. For many, embracing Cat Core is a way to proudly say: “I’m a cat person, and I want my world to reflect that.” It also supports a growing movement of small creators and independent businesses producing cat lover gifts and décor  for this thriving niche. Pillow with a Tabby Cat Design How to Embrace Cat Core in Your Life Want to try Cat Core for yourself? Here are easy ways to get started: Dress the part  – Add a Cat Core fashion piece to your wardrobe (like a playful apron or statement purse). Gift with intention  – Choose cat lover gifts  that align with the aesthetic—both fun and functional. Final Thoughts So, what is Cat Core?  It’s the cozy, playful, and stylish celebration of our feline companions expressed through fashion, décor, and everyday life. • 10 Cat Truths That Will Make Every Cat Mom Argue (But You Know We’re Right)

10 Things Your Cat Knows Are True But You Don't If you’ve been a cat mom for more than five minutes, you already know two things: 1️⃣ You are madly in love with your feline overlord. 2️⃣ They don’t always return the favor in the ways you expect. We at Comfort Diva  are not here to sugarcoat it — our cats gave us the brutal truth  about life with them, and honestly? They’re not wrong. From toy regrets to “chonky” realities, here are 10 Cat Truths We’re Not Sorry About . Prepare to nod, laugh, and maybe even get a little defensive. Balls of Yarn and Battery Powered Mice Suck 1. Your cat thinks half those toys were a waste of money. That 12-piece Amazon haul? The subscription box of crinkle balls? Yeah… they’d still rather play with the box it came in. It’s not that they hate  toys — they just like proving your shopping choices questionable. 💡 Pro Tip:  Invest in one  perfect toy and a cozy spot to play. Shop Comfort Diva Blankets  for the ultimate play-and-nap zone. Don't Leave Me Outside Unless You Want Me To Puke On The Rug 2. Outdoor cats are living on borrowed time, literally. It sounds harsh, but stats back it up: outdoor cats have shorter lifespans and face dangers from cars, predators, and weather. We love the image of a free-roaming feline, but a safe, enriched indoor life is the best gift you can give. 💡 Pro Tip:  Keep them happy indoors with vertical space and window perches. This Whole Food Salmon With No Preservatives Sucks 3. Changing flavors isn’t love—it’s just confusing your cat. Your cat’s digestive system likes routine. That “variety” you think they crave? It can lead to tummy troubles and mistrust. They’d rather have consistency than your best-intentioned menu swaps. 💡 Pro Tip:  Stick with what works — and serve it in style with our Comfort Diva Pink Halloween Placemat . Please Don't Make Me Eat The Weight Control Kibble - Sell My Pictures On Instagram For The Vet Bill 4. That “chonky” cat is more vet bill than vibe. We love a round floof as much as anyone, but extra pounds can mean extra problems — diabetes, arthritis, and heart issues. Cute? Yes. Healthy? Nope. 💡 Pro Tip:  Swap food rewards for extra cuddle time under our Cat Martini Blanket . I Can't Wait For You To Fall Asleep So I Can Leap Onto Your Chest 5. Cats aren’t nocturnal—they just know when you’re weak. Science says cats are crepuscular (most active at dawn and dusk), but your cat knows the exact moment your REM sleep is deepest — and that’s when the zoomies begin. Coincidence? We think not. 💡 Pro Tip:  Tire them out before bed with a good play session. Your Sadness Doesn't Trump a Good Cat Nap 6. Your cat knows you’re sad… and might take a nap anyway. Cats are empathetic, but they’re also opportunistic. Some will curl up on you in comfort; others will curl up away  from you because your couch spot is drafty. It’s not personal — it’s feline. 💡 Pro Tip:  When they do  stay, make it comfy with our Purr-Worthy Throw Pillow . Can't You Just Fill The Pillow With Liver Puree Instead of Catnip? 7. Catnip is cat marketing’s biggest scam. Some cats go wild, others barely blink. Genetics decide whether catnip is their personal party drug — not your shopping prowess. If your cat’s in the 50% who don’t care, save your money. 💡 Pro Tip:  Try silvervine or valerian root toys instead. I Love Mom and Only Mom. Now Get Rid of the Dog. 8. Cats can love one person as fiercely as any dog. The myth of the aloof cat is just that — a myth. Many cats bond deeply with one human and will follow them from room to room like a furry shadow. 💡 Pro Tip:  Celebrate your status as “chosen human” with one of Cat Mom Mugs . Can't You Just Plant a Tree in the Center of the House for Me to Climb? 9. Your scratching post is probably too short to matter. Cats stretch as part of their scratch — if their post isn’t tall enough for a full-body reach, they’ll find something that is… like your couch. 💡 Pro Tip:  A taller post is cheaper than a new sofa. You’re welcome. Can the Catwalk - Pumpkins Suck. 10. Cats in costumes are models under duress. We love the photos, but most cats tolerate clothes at best — and plot our demise at worst. That side-eye in your Halloween pics? Yeah, that’s not “fierce,” it’s “furious.” 💡 Pro Tip:  Accessorize your cat in ways they actually enjoy — like a Comfort Diva Stylish ID Tag or Beautiful Bandana . Final Purr-spective Being a cat mom means embracing the quirks, the sass, and yes, the truths . We can laugh at them, debate them, and still love our cats with all our hearts. Which truth do you agree with? Which one made you roll your eyes? Join the conversation on Instagram  @ComfortFoodDiva and tag your cat mom BFF. And if you need the perfect gift for your favorite feline (or yourself), shop our cat lover collection — no “waste of money” here.

  • 10 Things for Cat Lovers to Do in Los Angeles This Weekend

Woman Holding a White Furry Cat This blog post on Things for Cat Lovers To Do In Los Angeles is for all my cat-loving friends in the City of Los Angeles (and beyond, I’ll explain why in a minute). I lived over thirty years in LA which included apartments in Los Feliz, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Downtown Los Angeles near the Crypto.com Arena (once Staples Center) and Mid-Wilshire. Less than five of those thirty years, I lived with my adorable cat, Lulu. Once I adopted her, I realized the great joy that was missing from my life. I immediately wanted to explore things with her. So, I bought a cat harness thinking that she would want to go with me on my many adventures to the supermarket and the pet store. I quickly learned that Lulu had no affinity for the outside world at all, and couldn’t understand why I would stress her out and remove her from her comfort zone. But something was missing from my daily life as a cultural explorer. Cats were missing for me. I began to research places that I could go to celebrate my love for felines. Since I’ve done the research, this post is meant to give you ideas of activities to explore in Los Angeles, or your own hometown this weekend. CatCon : August 2-3, at the Pasadena Convention Center. CatCon is the ultimate worldwide convention for cat lovers. For the first time, Comfort Diva will be exhibiting at this event in Booth 1007. This year CatCon celebrates its 10th anniversary and hosts the event in Pasadena, which is a suburb just northeast of Downtown. There will be informative workshops, vendors with cat toys and cat t-shirts, and of course, Comfort Diva will be launching our Catnap Gift Set at the show. Remember that 10% of each sale on comfortdiva.com goes to benefit cat rescues. You can shop comfortdiva.com from anywhere in the continental United States.
